Junior
Triathlon Race Wrap
Well another annual Kalgoorlie
Junior Tri is all done and dusted and once again the club
rallied together to make this event a huge success. With over
170 kids participating I was caught out with my pants down as
from the nomination I had received I gathered 150 would be tops
and ended up running a little short on medallions but never less
I will endeavor to get those children who missed out there
medals with in the next week.
We all need a big pat on the back,
to be able to give the children of the goldfields the taste of a
triathlon and have no injuries or major complaints is a real
credit to our club. I also need to make mention of the Cycling
Club members who came down and helped us marshal the cycling leg
it was a sight for sore eyes when about ten of them showed up
keen to help out THANKS GUYS and GIRLS.
As far as the racing went I tried
to make it very clear that it was all about completing not
competing but I guess a few parents must of missed that bit as
we had one Mum Yelling at her child in the Swimming pool and a
father chasing his kid through transition yelling advice, O well
I hope those kids still enjoyed there race and the medallion
that all the kids received for COMPLETING.
There was loads of smiles,
laughter and a few tears during and after the event and there
were a lot of proud parents encouraging there kids, we were also
lucky enough to have a special guest of Emma Snowstill ( AKA
Brad Wall) make an appearance.
All in all it was a fantastic
morning and with only one more community event on our calendar
it nearly time to get stuck in to some serious training.
A big thank you to all of those
members who helped out, to run a triathlon and be finished and
packed up with in 3 hrs start to finish is some mean feet. Our
city counter parts would be envious
